Can I use Hello World CS with an iPad?

Using CS with VR on iPads vs. Chromebooks or Desktops

Hello World CS partners with a third-party platform called DX for our Computer Science with Virtual Reality (CS with VR) courses. While this platform works seamlessly on Chromebooks and desktop computers, there are important limitations when using it on iPads.

iPad Compatibility Issues

When students access DX from an iPad, the platform automatically redirects them to the DX app instead of running in the browser. This causes:

• Disruption to the Hello World CS (HWCS) curriculum flow
• Inability to view HWCS step-by-step instructions alongside the coding environment
• Frustration from being repeatedly kicked out of the curriculum content

Recommended Devices

To ensure a smooth and uninterrupted experience, we strongly recommend using:

• Chromebooks
• Mac or Windows desktop computers

These devices allow students to access the HWCS curriculum and DX coding environment side by side in the browser, as intended.

If your students are experiencing issues on iPads, switching to one of the supported devices will provide a significantly better learning experience.
